Military Expert Kass: Su-57 Combines Stealth, Maneuverability, and High Speed

Russia planned to assemble hundreds of fifth-generation Su-57 multirole fighters. However, production rates have been lower than expected due to financial constraints, international sanctions, and development problems. This is according to military expert Harrison Kass of The National Interest.

The Su-57 was developed as a competitor to the American F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II fighters. The Russian aircraft is designed to perform a wide range of tasks, including gaining air superiority, attacking ground targets, and conducting electronic warfare.

The Su-57 is an advanced fighter combining stealth, super-maneuverability, and high speed.

Despite ambitions, Su-57 production has stalled due to numerous delays and technological problems. These include difficulties with the AL-41F1 "Saturn" engine, which did not have the necessary characteristics.

As a result, it was decided that the Su-57 would be equipped with "Product 30" in the future. In addition, experts believe that the effective radar cross-section of the Russian aircraft is significantly larger than that of the F-22 or F-35.

Serial production of the Su-57 began in 2019. According to data from open sources, the Russian Aerospace Forces have received more than 20 fifth-generation fighters. The delivery of 76 aircraft is expected to be completed in 2028.
