Russia praises the T-90M tank (a modernized version of the T-90 tank, adopted in 2021), but it has a major drawback. It is inherent in all Soviet and Russian tanks. Military expert Peter Suchiu writes about this in an article for The National Interest.
The T-90M and other tanks are equipped with an automatic loader. It allows you to maintain a high rate of fire of up to 7-8 rounds per minute.
However, if an enemy anti-tank missile hits the turret ring, it can lead to the detonation of shells inside the combat vehicle, the expert explained. He claims that this problem exists in all mobile armored vehicles (MBTS) of Russian production.
Since the developers did not make changes to the design of the T-90M, Russian soldiers began to use their own solutions, including — "barbecue grills."
Suchiu recalled that Rosoboronexport took the T-90M to foreign arms exhibitions. However, the company did not advertise these "accessories" among buyers.
