The Russian Kurganets-25 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) remains in demand among the assault units of the Armed Forces, as does the Terminator tank support fighting vehicle. The characteristics of this equipment were revealed by military expert Evgeny Damantsev.
According to him, heavy spaced metal-ceramic armor of the side projections, as well as the front location of the material and technical compartment (MTO), provide protection of the behind-armor space in the front projection from kinetic projectiles of about 80-120 mm.
Unlike the BMP-3M, reliable protection is provided against 25-mm armor-piercing discarding sabot projectiles M791 and M919 with uranium cores, used in the ammunition of the BMP M2A2ODS-SA Bradley, and at distances of more than 2500-3000 m - from 40-mm APFSDS rounds used from L/70 Bofors guns of Swedish CV9040C IFVs.
The expert noted that the uninhabited Epoch combat module on the Kurganets-BM model is comparable to the Berezhok combat module in terms of firepower.
Also, a set based on Kaktus dynamic protection (DZ) modules with a pronounced anti-tandem effect has been designed for the Kurganets-25 IFV.
The combat weight of the vehicle is about 25-27 tons with amphibious capabilities and a troop compartment for 8 people. The most important advantage of the Kurganets-25 is the rear location of the ramp.
Earlier www1.ru reported that specialists from the repair and recovery units of the Russian army are creating buggies for assault units. They took the GAZ-66 truck as a basis.
