The SSJ-100 with SaM146 engines and extended range has received Approval of Major Change to Type Design. The document, issued by Rosaviatsiya, establishes new values for the assigned resource and service life — 20 thousand flights, 40 thousand flight hours, and 20 years of operation.
Vladimir Lavrov, Chief Designer of the SSJ program, explained that the new values confirm the reliability of the aircraft's design and increase the assigned resource by up to 40% of the design values.
“Yakovlev” continues to work towards achieving the design parameters set for the SSJ-100 aircraft family. The goal of this work is to satisfy the airlines' need for further operation of this type of aircraft.
Currently, there are 154 Superjets with SaM146 engines flying in Russia. The increase in resource limitations for the main structural power elements is carried out based on calculation results, resource tests of full-scale structures, and generalization of operational experience.
Former Airbus auditor Andrey Patrakov also noted that re-engining with PD-8 will not solve the SSJ-100's problems. According to him, there are dozens of imported components in the airliners that are simply not produced in Russia.
