Artificial intelligence is already being used at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant to solve specific practical problems. For now, it mainly concerns the development of technological documentation and the automation of routine operations. This was announced by Andrey Soynov, General Director of the PAO Yakovlev branch – Irkutsk Aviation Plant.

Earlier, another application of AI in Russian aircraft manufacturing was reported. OAK, together with Sber, uses generative design based on T-FLEX; the published project results reported an 11-fold acceleration in the synthesis of typical aircraft structures.
For IAZ, the topic of automation is particularly relevant given plans to accelerate MS-21 production. By 2027, the plant expects to reach a production rate of one aircraft every 40 calendar days, with a subsequent reduction of this interval.
In parallel, the plant is expanding operations directly on its site. The plant plans to independently paint serial MS-21s starting from early 2027, instead of sending aircraft to Ulyanovsk.
