After purchasing new domestic MS-21-310 aircraft, "Aeroflot" expects to use them on short-haul routes. This was announced by the carrier's CEO, Sergey Aleksandrovsky.
According to him, the most likely scenario will be flights from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod or Moscow to St. Petersburg.
Short-haul routes, where reservations can be made quickly, where technical support is set up at a high level.
Aleksandrovsky clarified that "Aeroflot" plans to receive the first 8 MS-21 aircraft in the fourth quarter of 2027, and the remaining 10 aircraft in 2028. In 2027, training for pilots, flight attendants, and engineers specifically for working with the MS-21 will begin.
The net loss of the "Aeroflot" group from January to March 2026 amounted to 8.8 billion rubles against 3.4 billion rubles in losses a year earlier. The group operates a mixed fleet, which includes Airbus A320, A330, and A350 families, as well as Boeing 737-800 and 777 models.
At the same time, "Aeroflot" will be supplied with MS-21 at 3.6 billion rubles per unit, while the expected market price is 9 billion rubles. The difference will be covered by state subsidies.
