The Degtyarev Plant (ZiD) unexpectedly resumed motorcycle production in 2026, bringing back models known since Soviet times. The legendary "Voskhod" and "Kovrovets" have returned to the market in an updated form – with modern characteristics and at affordable prices, according to the "110 km" portal.

After a decline in interest in domestic motorcycles, the plant tried to maintain its position by introducing new models, such as the "Sova," but did not achieve mass success. However, in 2026, the enterprise returned to the market with an updated line of road motorcycles and mopeds at democratic prices.

The assortment includes three main models. The ZiD-125 is a moped with a 120-cc four-stroke engine producing 5 kW of power and 8.6 N·m of torque. Its maximum speed is 75 km/h, and the price is 86,800 rubles. The ZiD-250 is equipped with a 225-cc engine producing 14 hp, designed for urban rides, and costs 144,000 rubles. The flagship of the line is the ZiD-300-01 with a 283-cc liquid-cooled engine, producing 21 hp, capable of accelerating up to 120 km/h. The official price is not disclosed, but it is known from open sources that it is around 200 thousand rubles.

Modern ZiD motorcycles are based on Chinese engines and components, primarily from the manufacturer Lifan. However, the final assembly of the equipment is organized in Kovrov at the facilities of the Degtyarev Plant itself, which allows for the preservation of production competencies and jobs. According to some reports, the motorcycle frame is made of domestic steel, and the plant also develops its own components to increase the level of localization. This approach helps keep prices at a level affordable for a wide range of buyers.

The plant's history began in 1946 with the production of the first "Kovrovets" K-125. This model became the basis for the "Voskhod" line, which appeared in 1965. At that time, the motorcycles had decent characteristics: a 10 hp engine, 14 N·m of torque, and a speed of up to 95 km/h with a weight of 110 kg. In 1983, the "Voskhod-3M" was launched with a 14 hp engine, accelerating up to 105 km/h.
