ODK-STAR (part of Rostec's United Engine Corporation) is implementing a project to expand its production capacities. The new facilities will occupy 44 thousand square meters. Here, the production and testing of electronic and hydromechanical units for automatic control systems (ACS) for PD-8, PD-14, PS-90A, and TV7-117ST-01 aircraft engines will be established.
The test facility is planned to be commissioned by the end of the year — internal finishing and installation of engineering networks are currently underway. It will house stands for endurance testing, adjustment, run-in, and preservation of units. The facility for the production and testing of electronic units is also nearing completion: the frame and facade have been installed, roofing work has been completed, and external networks have been laid. At the largest site — the future production of hydromechanical units — the building frame continues to be erected, trusses and beams are being installed, and the power slab for the floor is being laid.
PD-8 and PD-14 are Russian fifth-generation turbofan engines. The PD-14 develops thrust up to 14 tons and is designed for MS-21 medium-haul aircraft, while its modification, the PD-14M, can deliver up to 15.6 tons. The specific fuel consumption of the PD-14 at cruising speed is about 0.526 kg/(kgf·h), which is 12% lower than its predecessor, the PS-90A. The PD-8 is an engine with thrust up to 8 tons, created based on the technical solutions of the PD-14. It is intended for the import-substituted Superjet 100 (SJ-100) and the Be-200 amphibious aircraft. The PD-8 fan diameter is 1228 mm, dry weight is 2300 kg, and specific fuel consumption at cruising speed is 0.61 kg/(kgf·h). The PD-8 has completed a full cycle of certification tests, accumulating over 6500 hours, and is ready for serial production.
Earlier, the creator of the Be-200 aircraft did not share the enthusiasm for the PD-8: in his opinion, the engine was built too quickly. Alexander Yavkin wondered what exactly ODK engineers had to sacrifice for such development speed.
