The "unnecessary" Il-96-400M is only 23% ready

The long-haul airliner flew only 10 hours in June

The certification level of the wide-body Il-96-400M airliner is currently within 23%. These calculations were provided by analysts of the "Letayem vmeste" project.

Last month, the prototype aircraft 96115 was repositioned for safety reasons from Zhukovsky to Khabarovsk with an intermediate stop in Kazan.

The prototype Il-96-300, tail number 96107, also went to Khabarovsk with it.

A week ago, the Il-96-400M visited Yakutia. The tests turned out to be unusual – the crew simulated landing several times, to the surprise of local residents.

Aviation expert Oleg Panteleev explained that the Il-96-400M with four PS-90A engines is not of interest to airlines that have already chosen Boeing and Airbus. In fact, this situation makes the airliner "unnecessary" in the domestic market.

Earlier, "Pervyy tekhnicheskiy" compared the Il-96-400M with the global benchmark for long-haul efficiency – the Airbus A350-100.
