The Russian government has approved a unified mechanism for verifying product cards on marketplaces, which will come into effect on October 1, 2026. As TASS reported from the office of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko, platforms are now obliged to cross-reference seller data with 12 state information systems even before publication.

Categories critical to health are targeted: medicines, medical devices, dietary supplements, pesticides and agrochemicals, as well as all goods with mandatory certification and labeling. Three working days are allotted for verification from the moment information is submitted, after which the card is either approved for display or blocked. Already published items must undergo revision within 180 days, and every ten working days the system will automatically re-verify the data's relevance.

For buyers, this means a reduced risk of encountering fakes or dangerous products on Wildberries, Ozon, and Yandex Market. For sellers, it's a strict filter: any error in documents threatens blocking.

Experts from the Association of Internet Trade Companies indicate that platforms and the state will have to build an IT system capable of processing hundreds of millions of records. A separate mechanism for confirming trademark rights will come into effect on March 1, 2027, adding another layer of protection against counterfeiting.
