The second new 35 MW turbogenerator has been put into commercial operation at Krasnoyarsk CHPP-1. The project was implemented by Siberian Generating Company as part of the ongoing modernization of Krasnoyarsk's largest heat source.
After completing the testing program, power engineers connected turbogenerator No. 15 to operation. For five days, the equipment operated under load in various modes, which confirmed its compliance with reliability and operational parameters.
The new unit became the second turbogenerator commissioned at the plant since the beginning of June. Earlier, turbogenerator No. 16 with a similar electrical capacity of 35 MW started operation at CHPP-1.
As Sergey Borodulin, Director of Krasnoyarsk CHPP-1, noted, the launch of the second new turbogenerator was another stage in the comprehensive modernization of the plant. According to him, both units replaced equipment that had been in operation for more than 65 years. The new turbines feature higher efficiency, improved operational characteristics, and increased environmental performance, which will enhance the reliability of heat and electricity supply to the city.
Currently, ten turbogenerators with a total installed capacity of 435.9 MW are operating at Krasnoyarsk CHPP-1. The technical re-equipment of the plant is proceeding simultaneously with environmental modernization. In recent years, a new 275-meter high chimney has been built here, two boiler units with a capacity of 220 tons of steam per hour each have been replaced, and 15 modern electrostatic precipitators have been put into operation.
