Trains built using the push-pull system (trains where the locomotive pulls the carriages when moving forward and pushes them when moving backward) may appear in Russia within 3-5 years. This was stated by Dmitry Pegov, CEO of "Federal Passenger Company" (FPC), on the sidelines of the SPIEF.
So this work is now underway, it has been launched.
Currently, the development is at the stage of design documentation. The prospective train will be two-section. Thanks to push-pull technology, it can be controlled from both the head and tail cars, Pegov added.
The appearance of such trains offers a number of advantages. In particular, it is possible to increase the capacity of the train by coupling several trains. This is especially important during the seasonal peak of passenger traffic, concluded the head of FPC.
