LMS-901 "Baikal" refused certification with General Electric engine

Head of Rosaviatsiya Dmitry Yadrov called this decision correct

Russian regulators made an absolutely correct decision by refusing to certify the LMS-901 "Baikal" aircraft with the American General Electric H80-100 engine and a four-blade Hartzell propeller. This was stated by the head of Rosaviatsiya, Dmitry Yadrov.

Of course, we are waiting for our local machine, the replacement for the An-2 — this is the "Baikal". We discussed for a very long time whether this machine should be certified with a foreign engine and a limited propeller resource. And then the correct decision was made.

It should be noted that the LMS-901 "Baikal" is currently undergoing tests with a domestic VK-800 engine and a domestic AV-901 propeller.

The transition of the aircraft to these components seems logical, because without official manufacturer support, it would be impossible to legally extend the service life of the propeller and engine, supply original spare parts, and carry out major repairs.

However, aviation expert Alexey Zakharov stated that the Ural Civil Aviation Plant does not have the necessary resources for large-scale production of "Baikals".
