Tu-214, 30 years behind Boeing, gets a new customer after Aeroflot's refusal

Serial aircraft will be delivered to Red Wings under preferential FNW leasing

After Aeroflot withdrew from the Tu-214 program, the Kazan Aircraft Plant (KAZ) found a new customer. According to the local publication "Business Online", the first production aircraft will be delivered to Red Wings airline.

This refers to a contract for 11 aircraft within the state program for the development of the aviation industry. The delivery of the first aircraft is expected in 2027. Funding is planned through leasing using FNW funds.

Initially, Aeroflot was supposed to be the launch operator of the new Russian aircraft. But after changes in crew requirements and delays, the company withdrew from the project.

There is an opinion in the industry that the Tu-214 has remained in the same state as it was 30 years ago, unlike its competitors Boeing 737 and Airbus A320.

Earlier it became known that the Tu-214 still needs to be "brought to perfection" after design changes. Rostec's plans for serial production of the Kazan aircraft in 2027 do not include it.
