Minpromtorg Seeks Opportunities to Extend SSJ-100 Aircraft Lifespan

4.5 billion rubles needed for aircraft modification

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (Minpromtorg) has initiated work to increase the lifespan of SSJ-100 aircraft. A contract worth 4.5 billion rubles was placed on the public procurement portal.

According to the document, the outcome of research and development (R&D) work should be an increase in the SSJ100's lifespan from the current 10,000–15,000 flights, depending on the configuration, to 15,000–20,000 flights.

The permissible flight hours for one aircraft (AC) should increase from 15,000–25,000 hours to 25,000–40,000 hours, and the service life for some versions is expected to be extended from 15 to 20 years.

This will require design modifications, airframe testing, and replacement of imported components. The work is expected to be completed by December 2028.

Oleg Smirnov, Honored Pilot of the USSR and member of the Public Council of Rostransnadzor, told "Pervy Tekhnichesky" how former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi influenced the fate of the Sukhoi Superjet 100.
