Alikhanov: replacement of units on old Superjets requires component assessment

The condition for replacing the Franco-Russian SaM146 engines with fully domestic PD-8 engines on Superjet-100 aircraft will be an assessment of all components. This was stated by the head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov.

According to him, in addition to replacing the power units themselves, it will also be necessary to replace the associated onboard systems – also of Russian production.

After that, we will form a balanced financial model with the airlines, mutually beneficial for both manufacturers and the airlines themselves.

Oleg Panteleev, Executive Director of the "Aviaport" agency and aviation expert, explained to "Pervy Tekhnichesky" that there is currently no point in replacing SaM146 with PD-8 on older versions of the Superjet. In his opinion, it would be economically unprofitable.

Aviation expert Roman Gusarov also explained to "Pervy Tekhnichesky" that replacing SaM146 with PD-8 would require a lot of funds, and the sources of financing have not yet been determined.
