Workers at the "Uralskiye Lokomotivy" plant (Verkhnyaya Pyshma in Sverdlovsk Oblast) painted the body of the first 3 train cars for the High-Speed Rail (HSR) Moscow — St. Petersburg. They will be transferred for assembly for subsequent installation.
A black and grey paint scheme has been chosen for the first two trains.
Specialists used water-dilutable paint and varnish materials with a "metallic" effect.
The work included the following stages:
- body treatment in an abrasive blasting chamber
- application of primer, putty, and colored enamel
- painting with protective varnish
All operations were carried out in paint and drying chambers, controlling temperature and humidity. This ensures high corrosion resistance of the body.
Oleg Spai, General Director of the "Uralskiye Lokomotivy" plant, said that the use of water-dilutable compounds for painting guarantees the durability of the coating when the train operates at speeds up to 400 km/h. Such paint and varnish materials withstand vibration and extreme temperatures, he noted.
The first 2 HSR train sets will be sent for certification tests in 2027. The launch of the main line between the two capitals is scheduled for 2028.
