The work on the first unit marked the start of the 2026 repair campaign, the total duration of which will be about 170 days. During the shutdown of the power unit, engineers carried out comprehensive maintenance of the reactor plant, turbogenerator equipment and safety systems. Special attention was paid to replacing the reactor shaft damper, a key element that ensures the stability of the structure during operation.

In parallel with the repair, modernization was carried out: the shaft sealing system on both turbogenerators was updated and the automatic chemical control system for the primary coolant was improved. The changes will increase the reliability of the equipment and simplify the monitoring of reactor plant parameters in real time.

Currently, 4 power units are operating at the Kola Nuclear Power Plant, providing a total capacity of 1090.6 MW. The radiation background in the vicinity of the station is 0.06 μSv/hour, which is within the natural background level.

During 2026, the remaining three power units will undergo preventive maintenance in turn. Specialists will use the accumulated experience and new technical solutions.
