The Russian airfield network continues to expand: Deputy Minister of Transport Andrey Nikitin outlined the key results and tasks of the industry at the board meeting of the department. As part of the national project "Efficient Transport System," it is planned to modernize at least 75 international and regional airports by 2030, including the construction of new passenger terminals.
Already in 2025, the infrastructure was updated in Izhevsk, Mineralnye Vody, Murmansk, Novokuznetsk, Tyumen, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, and Khabarovsk. The next stage starts in 2026: new terminals should start operating in Blagoveshchensk, Barnaul, and Orenburg. The Gorno-Altaysk airport received a special status — the first concession agreement was signed for it.
In parallel with the development of infrastructure, the industry is addressing the issue of maintaining the airworthiness of aircraft. This task lies with the owners of the aircraft fleet and supervisory authorities. Before the start of serial deliveries of domestic aviation equipment in 2026, it is important to ensure the flawless operation of the current fleet and expand the network of international routes with interested countries.
Safety remains a priority. In 2025, a system for protection against the illegal use of drones was launched on the instructions of the President. Rules for the protection of seaports have been approved, including the procedure for coordinating vessel calls and inspecting their underwater parts.
