In Yakutsk, the Il-114-300 successfully landed on a snow-covered unpaved runway

The presentation at Magan Airport confirmed the Russian turboprop's readiness for the extreme conditions of the Far North

At Magan Airport near Yakutsk, the Il-114-300 turboprop aircraft completed a key element of its test program — landing and takeoff from a snow-covered unpaved runway in the extreme climatic conditions of the Far North.

The event, attended by the Head of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Aysen Nikolaev, was held as a presentation of the domestically produced regional airliner, which has now been undergoing a series of tests in the conditions of Yakutian frost for a second week. The aircraft confirmed its ability to operate confidently from unprepared airfields, which is especially important for remote areas of the North and the Far East.

Aysen Nikolaev noted that the Il-114-300 development and testing program is being implemented on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin and represents a significant contribution to achieving the country's technological sovereignty. According to him, in the harsh Yakutian conditions, characteristics that are critically important for northern operation are now being tested: the reliability of the powerplant and systems at ultra-low temperatures, resistance to difficult weather conditions, as well as the aircraft's behavior on unpaved surfaces.

The successful landing on the snow-covered unpaved runway of Magan Airport became one of the main confirmations of the Il-114-300's readiness for operation in regions where short and unprepared runways predominate.

The Il-114-300 is a modernized version of the well-known turboprop aircraft, equipped with new TV7-117ST-01 engines with increased power and efficiency. The aircraft is designed to carry up to 68 passengers and is capable of operating in a wide temperature range, including extreme cold. The main part of the certification tests was already completed in 2025, and the current flights in Yakutia complement the program with checks for frost resistance and icing.
