Stoilensky Mining and Processing Plant, located in Stary Oskol and owned by NLMK, has successfully completed the modernization of its traction fleet. Transmashholding (TMKh) supplied the second AC traction unit of the NP1 model, number 117, fully fulfilling its contractual obligations. Earlier, the first unit of this series, number 114, had already been commissioned.
The enterprise now operates eight NP1 units. Each works in combination with ten 115-ton dump cars, ensuring the transportation of about 5.6 thousand tons of rock mass per shift for stockpiling or processing.
The NP1 unit consists of three sections: one electric locomotive section and two motor dump-car sections. It is equipped with two asymmetric central and four side current collectors and develops a power output of 7,600 kW. The series has been produced at NEVZ since 2004. The equipment is adapted to the extreme conditions of open-pit mining operations: increased dust levels, temperature fluctuations, and difficult terrain. Four braking systems and modern control solutions improve operational safety.
The driver's cab is centrally located, equipped with an air-conditioning system, and designed with ergonomics and visibility requirements in mind.
