Bottom-up initiative: Ideas from workers at Irkutsk Aviation Plant speed up MC-21 production

Plant foremen came up with how to do the job faster and easier

At the Irkutsk Aviation Plant, workers have brought their ideas to life in order to speed up the production process in their workshops. This was reported in the press service of the enterprise.

Assembly of the MC-21

In workshop No. 252, for example, when working on a pneumatic guillotine, there was a problem with the convenient and safe placement of a large-sized workpiece sheet on the table top.

Through the joint efforts of boiler operator Igor Shishkin, welder Semyon Seredkin, and refractory worker Vladimir Berezov, an additional folding table top was manufactured and installed.

In workshop No. 255, foreman Sergei Safonov made a fastener length meter on a 3D printer.

This compact and lightweight auxiliary tool can significantly reduce the selection time when issuing standard products.

As a reminder, the Irkutsk Aviation Plant (part of PJSC Yakovlev of Rostec) produces MC-21 civilian airliners, Su-30 series fighters, and Yak-130 combat trainers.

In 2025, the plant completed the reconstruction of the main step-down substation. The updated substation will provide for all the growing production needs for the serial launch of MC-21 civilian aircraft.
