The Moscow Arbitration Court approved a settlement agreement between Yakutsk Airport JSC and Ingosstrakh insurance company in a case related to the Sukhoi Superjet 100 incident in 2018. According to the agreement, the airport will pay the insurer about 98 million rubles — this is the adjusted amount of indexation of the previously awarded damages, taking into account the 20% discount provided by Ingosstrakh.
As a reminder, in September 2018, a SJ-100 aircraft of Yakutia Airlines, operating a flight to Yakutsk, rolled out of the runway after landing. As a result of the incident, the aircraft's landing gear struts collapsed. There were 92 people on board — all passengers and crew members were unharmed. The aircraft was insured for approximately 1.3 billion rubles.
Following the investigation by the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC), it was established that the main cause of the accident was the transmission of incorrect data on the runway's coefficient of adhesion to the crew. At the time of the incident, the airport lacked the necessary reagents, equipment for their application, as well as thermal machines capable of effectively removing ice from the runway surface.
In December 2023, the court recovered more than 1.1 billion rubles in compensation for damages from the airport in favor of Ingosstrakh. This decision was subsequently confirmed by the appellate and cassation instances, as well as the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. The execution of the decision was postponed until the end of 2025.
However, in September 2024, the court additionally granted the insurer's request for indexation of the debt amount and ordered the recovery of more than 122 million rubles from the airport. As part of the settlement agreement, the parties agreed to reduce this amount by 20%, which led to the final payment of 98 million rubles.
