Alikhanov announced progress in negotiations on the sale of Tu-214 aircraft

Results are expected in the first quarter of 2026

Negotiations with potential buyers of Tu-214 aircraft have advanced, and there are preliminary agreements. This was stated by Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov.

There are a number of, shall we say, agreements on the Tu-214. I hope that we will come to some result — we are aiming for the first quarter of next year. We hope that this agreement will take place and will already be turned into a real, действующий contract.
Anton Alikhanov, Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade

The updated Tu-214 has already received approval for making key changes to the design and has successfully passed certification tests, during which imported equipment was replaced with domestic analogues. A total of 17 systems were modernized. For example, the weather radar and collision avoidance system, which were previously manufactured by Honeywell, are now being developed in St. Petersburg.

Tu-214 received a certificate of Approval of the main change to the standard design

Alikhanov noted that Russia will be able to offer aviation systems developed in the country on the international stage, while ensuring the needs of domestic aircraft will be a priority.

The Tu-214 flying laboratory aircraft, after being refined as part of import substitution, made its first flight in November 2024. Subsequently, aircraft designers conducted fine-tuning flights.
