Aviation may take a back seat after the launch of the high-speed railway (HSR-1) Moscow - St. Petersburg. This was announced by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev.
We assume that about 3.5 million (passengers), 45-48% of the flow from aviation will switch to the high-speed rail line.
According to Vitaly Savelyev, the need for flights will still remain.
The first high-speed rail line (HSR-1) will connect St. Petersburg and Moscow. Trains will run at 15-minute intervals. The launch of the first branch of the new railway is scheduled for 2028.
Passenger traffic between St. Petersburg and Moscow is expected to be about 23 million people by 2030.
Earlier www1.ru reported that tests have started of the CS-400 contact network for high-speed trains.
