Rostec Showed Video of Printing Parts for PD-8 Engine for SJ-100 for the First Time

The technology is used to create more than 10 components of the unit

The Rostec State Corporation published footage of the production process of parts for the PD-8 aircraft engine for the SJ-100 aircraft. The video captured the 3D printing process of the oil sump, an important element of the power plant's oil system.

Rostec explained that the latest domestic heat-resistant powder alloys are used to manufacture parts using additive technologies.

During production, the products undergo mandatory optical and X-ray inspection, which confirms the quality of the part and its compliance with the specified parameters.

In total, more than a dozen elements of the PD-8 are created serially using 3D printing. At the stage of development work alone, engineers designed more than 200 synthesized parts and manufactured more than a thousand to refine the technology.

3D printing significantly speeds up the manufacture of complex parts and provides new opportunities for their mass production.

The UEC noted that designers of PD-8 and PD-14 engines will begin to be trained on Russian systems.

Earlier www1.ru reported that additive technologies have been introduced into all PD-8, PD-14 and PD-35 engines.
