The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, together with GLONASS, has launched an online mileage counter for highly automated freight vehicles on the M-11 Neva highway and the Central Ring Road (Moscow Ring Road). The system records mileage and the number of connected unmanned trucks in real time.
According to the agency, the total mileage of unmanned trucks has already exceeded 10 million kilometers, and more than 60 vehicles are registered in the unified transport identification system based on ERA-GLONASS. Statistics are collected automatically and are available online, which ensures the transparency of the experiment.
The head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, Andrey Nikitin, noted that the launch of the counter will increase public confidence in the implemented innovative transport technologies.
Alexey Raikevich, General Director of GLONASS, added that it is planned to connect unmanned trucks on the M-4 Don highway as part of the second similar experimental legal regime.
Unmanned cargo transportation on the M-11 Neva is carried out within the framework of the experimental legal regime "Unmanned Logistics Corridors", which started in 2022. In 2024, the experimental zone was expanded to the Moscow Ring Road and the M-12 Vostok highway. The Russian government has extended the regime until November 12, 2028.
