Опытные образцы двигателя ПД-8 для «Суперджета» наработали более 4000 часов в испытаниях

Special attention is paid to testing in extreme conditions

The Russian PD-8 turbofan engine, designed for Superjet 100 regional aircraft and Be-200 amphibians, has passed another stage of testing. This was reported by the United Engine Corporation (UEC).

The total operating time of the prototypes as part of the Il-76LL flying laboratory and two Superjets exceeded 4,000 hours.

The PD-8 engine was developed at the UEC-Saturn enterprise in Rybinsk using the technological groundwork obtained during the design of the PD-14 for the MC-21 aircraft.

The 8-ton thrust power plant was created in record time: work began in 2019, and certification tests as part of the Superjet started in March 2025. During bench and flight tests, the PD-8 confirmed the specified technical characteristics.

Special attention is paid to testing in extreme conditions. "One of the most important will be flights in natural icing conditions in Arkhangelsk," said Alexander Grachev, General Director of UEC. Tests are carried out both on Superjet-100 aircraft and on the Il-76LL flying laboratory.
