The "ODK-Saturn" enterprise (part of the United Engine Corporation, UEC) in Rybinsk was visited by representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of the Rostec Group), Rostec's Industrial Director of the Aviation Complex Anatoly Serdyukov, and the head of Rosaviatsiya Dmitry Yadrov. They familiarized themselves with the progress of the certification of the latest PD-8 aircraft engine and the organization of serial production of the unit.
UEC clarified that the engine is undergoing testing at the M.M. Gromov Flight Research Institute as part of the Il-76LL flying laboratory, at the test benches of "ODK-Saturn", "ODK-Aviadvigatel", and the Central Institute of Aviation Motor Engineering named after P.I. Baranov, as well as as part of two "Superjet-100" aircraft.
The current test schedule ensures that a type certificate for the engine is obtained. This will be a crucial step towards the serial production of the PD-8. UEC has all the necessary competencies and production facilities for this.
The prototype "Superjet-100" made its first flight with domestic PD-8 engines in March 2025.
As part of flight tests in Zhukovsky, it is planned to check the operability of aircraft systems and engines under various flight conditions, and to assess the noise level on the ground. Flights in natural icing conditions are also planned.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Kazan Aviation Plant will increase capacity for serial production of Tu-214.
