The creator of the Su-25 attack aircraft and the first chief designer of the SSJ-100, Yuri Ivashechkin, has died at the age of 90. This was reported by the press service of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec).
The UAC noted the designer's attention to detail and the highest professionalism.
Ivashechkin participated in the development of Su-9, Su-15, Su-24, T-4 aircraft. In 1980-1985, he served as the chief designer of the Su-25. Ivashechkin was also the first chief designer of the SSJ-100 passenger aircraft.
For his success in the development of domestic aviation technology, Ivashechkin was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and the Order of the Badge of Honor, as well as medals. He is a laureate of the P. O. Sukhoi Prize II degree.
