The enterprises of the United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of Rostec) are fully ready to begin serial production of PD-8 aircraft engines. In 2025, it is planned to produce four serial units of the power plant.
Artem Badernikov, Deputy Chief Designer of the PD-8 engine, noted that the corporation has reached the final stage of PD-8 certification tests.
This is a huge complex of testing work, which includes more than 100 programs: tests for crosswind, bird strikes, hail strikes, water ingestion, and fan blade breakage. These are complex and critical tests.
The latest PD-8 aircraft engines are designed for the import-substituted Superjet aircraft and the Be-200 amphibious aircraft. Obtaining a type certificate for the PD-8 engines is scheduled for September 2025.
Earlier www1.ru reported that 14 MS-21 aircraft have been assembled at Rostec factories to replace Airbus and Boeing.
