Assembling 14 Russian MC-21 aircraft per year will take 20 years to completely replace the fleet of Western machines, according to Viktor Gorbachev, General Director of the "Airport" Association.
According to him, Russia needs to replace 300 Western aircraft, which will require the production of at least 600 PD-14 engines.
We need to replace 300 Western-made aircraft, Boeing and Airbus. The faster we replace them, the better. If they can do it in one year, let them do it. Assembling 14 aircraft is good, but at this rate, it will take 20 years. The certification process is very complex and lengthy, and something may have to be changed.
Gorbachev singled out the production of power plants for the aircraft as a separate problem.
To replace 300 machines, you need two engines for each - 600 engines. The engine's lifespan is shorter than the aircraft's lifespan, so you need a double or triple reserve. Therefore, it turns out that we need 1800 engines.
As part of serial production, the enterprises of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec) assembled 14 MC-21-310 aircraft.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the import-substituted MC-21 aircraft successfully tested radio-electronic equipment.
