The authorities of Yelabuga (Tatarstan) have decided to ban electric scooter rentals. This was reported by the press service of the Yelabuga municipal district.
This decision was made due to the lack of necessary infrastructure (bike paths and special lanes) that ensure safe movement.
The lack of conditions for the safe use of electric scooters creates inconvenience for pedestrians, as scooter riders move along sidewalks. This poses a potential danger. The authorities emphasized that the ban on rentals will remain in effect until the appropriate infrastructure is created.
Violators face strict measures: a case has already been recorded of the seizure of electric scooters from an entrepreneur who organized an unauthorized rental, and his equipment was sent to a impound lot. The ban only applies to commercial rentals; owners of personal electric scooters can continue to use them, observing traffic rules.
Also, a complete ban on electric scooters was introduced in Blagoveshchensk on June 14. Fines have been introduced for moving or placing SEM within the city limits.
