The head of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec), Vadim Badeha, announced plans to develop a more economical Il-96 aircraft with new Russian PD-35 engines.
Rostec recalled that the Il-96 wide-body long-range aircraft is actively used by the «Russia» special flight detachment.
In addition, a modernized Il-96-400M was created, which made its first flight in 2023. The promising PD-35 was developed at the United Engine Corporation (UEC).
An experienced prototype of the aircraft engine — a technology demonstrator — successfully passed the first stage of testing in 2024.
Earlier www1.ru reported that import-substituted parts for the SJ-100 will become cheaper, although they used to cost twice as much as for Airbus.
