Unique stand reduced the development time of the PD-8 engine

The semi-natural "Virtual Bird" stand for the SJ-100 was created in the 2000s

The first flight of the SJ-100 aircraft with PD-8 engines took place on March 17, 2025. This was made possible thanks to the coordinated work of specialists from "Yakovlev", "ODK-Saturn" and GosNIIAS, where components and systems of the aircraft's onboard equipment complex were tested on the "Electronic Bird" stand. This was reported in the press service of GosNIIAS.

During the work, specialists debugged the interaction of aircraft systems with the equipment of new engines, screen indication in the cockpit, information messages in normal operating modes and in failure situations.

The semi-natural "Virtual Bird" stand (the "Sukhoi" company called it "Electronic Bird") for the SSJ-100 was created during the design of the aircraft in the 2000s. For the import-substituted aircraft, GosNIIAS was tasked with creating a new complex with the integration of domestic onboard systems.

The first flight with PD-8 engines took place in Komsomolsk-on-Amur last week. The plane was in the air for about 40 minutes, reached an altitude of up to 3,000 m and a speed of 500 km/h.
