At a meeting with MAI students, the head of the Rostec State Corporation, Sergei Chemezov, spoke about the development of the fifth-generation PD-14 engine for the latest MC-21 airliner. According to him, the serial engine was created on the basis of time-tested design solutions using modern technologies, including 3D printing and modeling in a digital environment.

ODK designers have developed and implemented 16 critical technologies. For example, turbine blades made of the lightest titanium intermetallic and an advanced cooling system that will allow the turbine to operate at temperatures up to 2000 °K. At the same time, the condition was to use only domestic materials.
