Russia and the United States are discussing joint projects in the field of data centers, including the use of capacities of Russian nuclear power plants. This was stated by the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Kirill Dmitriev, at the "Russian Energy Week 2026" forum.

According to him, the parties already have a clear list of projects, and work is being carried out with the participation of a number of Russian companies. Dmitriev did not disclose details or timelines. He noted a great synergistic effect between Moscow and Washington in the Arctic, LNG, and other energy projects.
Data centers for artificial intelligence require gigawatts of stable power, and nuclear power plants provide cheap generation without emissions. For the United States, this is access to energy; for Russia, it is the loading of nuclear power plants and investments. If negotiations lead to contracts, the data center market will get a new player with its own power source. For now, this is only a list of projects, not signed agreements.
