GTU-12PG-2 power units from ODK-Perm Motors have accumulated a total of more than 7 million hours of operation at fuel and energy complex facilities. In total, 118 such units have been manufactured in Russia, ODK reported.
The GTU-12PG-2 with a capacity of 12.3 MW was developed by ODK-Aviadvigatel and is produced at ODK-Perm Motors. It is based on the gas generator of the PS-90A aircraft engine — the same one used on the Il-96-300 and Tu-214.
The manufacturer is confident in the quality of the power units and provides a lifetime warranty for them. GTU-12PG-2 has been mass-produced since 2004.
The first units with a total capacity of 156 MW were commissioned at five facilities in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug. Currently, GTU-12PG-2 is used by nine Russian fuel and energy companies.
In general, Russia has long practiced converting aviation power units for energy purposes. For example, GTD-6RM engines based on D-30KU for the Il-76MD have also accumulated more than 5 million hours during industrial operation.
