Aeroflot and Rostec have concluded the largest contract in the history of Russian civil aviation for 90 medium-haul MC-21-310 aircraft. The agreement also provides for full technical support for 108 airliners – 90 new ones and 18 previously contracted. The signing took place on September 18.

Deliveries of new aircraft are scheduled by year: 14 in 2029, 18 in 2030, 24 in 2031, and 34 in 2032. Another 18 aircraft under previous agreements will arrive in 2027–2028. The cost of the contract is not disclosed. The cost of one aircraft is planned to be reduced to less than 7.5 billion rubles due to economies of scale and work with contractors.

The MC-21-310 is equipped with a PD-14 engine, and a wing and tail made of domestic materials. The certification program is more than halfway complete, with over 120 flights performed on three aircraft. 18 aircraft are in production, and another is being prepared for checks in Zhukovsky.

The first flights will go from Moscow to the Volga region and the European part of Russia. The state subsidizes preferential lending to airlines and lessors, with an advance payment of 25–30%. The first Aeroflot aircraft will be named after aircraft designer Alexander Yakovlev.
