The deadlines for the start of commercial deliveries of the MC-21-310 and SJ-100 have been repeatedly postponed. One of the reasons cited is the lengthy development of import-substituted systems and subsequent certification of aviation equipment. However, safety requirements themselves cannot be considered excessive bureaucracy, said Yury Tretyakov, technical director in the aircraft industry, to "Pervy Tekhnichesky".
According to the expert, the creation of aviation equipment requires consistent adherence to established procedures.
Process-driven development is long, expensive, and very painful. But it has to be done. Tight deadlines should not affect the process-driven development and phased progression of products through procedures.
Tretyakov added that developers often face situations where suppliers are required to deliver the first sample of a system within pre-established and extremely tight deadlines. Such a practice, he believes, should not affect the development process itself.
It should be noted that the transfer of MC-21-310 to operators is expected in 2027, with Aeroflot being the first to receive them. The import-substituted SJ-100 will be delivered to Azimuth and Red Wings airlines, but also next year.
