The project of the Chinese long-range aircraft CR929 has stalled due to the unfinished CJ-2000 engine and the limitations of a traditional metal wing. But Russia's participation in two components can give it a new lease of life, explained aviation expert Oleg Panteleev.
According to him, China has bet on its own intellectual capabilities and cooperation with reliable partners.
China is showing great progress in various high-tech systems, but they are not doing very well with engines. In any case, their developments do not match their ambitions. The same applies to the wing. It turned out that today the only country that China can rely on in this matter is Russia.
It should be noted that among Russian developments, the PD-35 engine and the "black" composite wing, which is already undergoing tests on the MC-21-310, are theoretically suitable for the new Chinese airliner.
Earlier, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov confirmed Russia's interest in creating a wide-body aircraft with China.
