The authorities have made the necessary decisions to support the construction of new fishing vessels. It is planned to expand the list of vessels that fall under the state investment program "keel quotas". This was stated by the head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
According to Alikhanov, the government instructed the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture to "find within their budgets" funds for the completion of vessels and the implementation of the state program.
We have a certain list of additional vessels that we wanted to include in this mechanism.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev supported the proposal to increase the list of vessels for "keel quotas", Alikhanov added. The relevant departments will continue to finance the program, so "there will be fish," the minister concluded.
The "keel quotas" program, launched in 2017, assumes that the state will allocate quotas for the extraction of aquatic biological resources to fishing companies. In turn, the recipients of preferences undertake to increase extraction, processing, or build vessels at Russian shipyards. Currently, the program applies to processor trawlers and crabbers.
