Bangladesh has confirmed progress in negotiations for the purchase of Chinese J-10CE fighters. The draft agreement has already been sent to the Ministry of Finance for final approval.

Zahed Ur Rahman, the Prime Minister's Advisor for Information and Broadcasting, noted that the Chinese aircraft proved to be at least as good as the Rafale and Eurofighter Typhoon, but at a significantly lower cost.

It should be noted that the J-10CEs will join the Bangladesh Air Force instead of the Russian MiG-29s, which were purchased back in 1999. The total amount of the intergovernmental contract was $124 million.

At the same time, the opposition in Bangladesh accused the local cabinet of ministers that the purchase of Russian aircraft would allegedly "ruin" the country's military budget due to expensive maintenance.

In 2002, the new government even tried to officially put these 8 MiG-29s up for sale, but no buyers were found, and the aircraft remained in service.

Earlier it became known that J-10CE fighters will also be acquired by Uzbekistan.
