Unmanned aerial vehicles will not be able to completely displace pilots from aviation. This opinion was expressed by Sergey Bogdan, chief test pilot of the Sukhoi Design Bureau.

The test pilot of the 5th generation Su-57 fighter answered negatively to the question of whether he fears competition from such systems. In his opinion, the transition to a wider use of unmanned aviation will happen gradually.

First of all, I see that this displacement will not happen discretely and in one day. There will simply be some assistants appearing. Pilots will still be in demand. I am deeply convinced of this.
Sergey Bogdan, test pilot of the Sukhoi Design Bureau

Bogdan noted that unmanned systems are already capable of taking on tasks where there is no need to risk human life.

As an example, he cited the delivery of weapons and other operations that can be entrusted to controlled drones.

In the autumn of 2025, at the Dubai Air Show 2025, the unmanned version of the advanced Russian Su-75 Checkmate fighter was shown for the first time. There have been no news about the model's tests since then.
