The first production import-substituted MC-21-310 aircraft made a non-stop flight from Irkutsk to Zhukovsky. The airliner spent 5 hours and 50 minutes in the air, climbed to an altitude of 12,100 meters, and reached a speed of up to 850 km/h.
The cockpit was occupied by test pilots, Heroes of Russia Roman Taskaev and Oleg Kononenko, as well as leading flight test engineer, flight operator Alexander Popov.
Crew commander Roman Taskaev noted after landing that the aircraft performed well on its first long-haul flight, and all its systems operated normally.
This MC-21-310 made its first flight on August 3 in Irkutsk. Now, specialists from the Flight Test and Completion Complex of "Yakovlev" in Zhukovsky will conduct a detailed inspection of the aircraft and its systems before further tests.
For the MC-21 program, this flight is important because it is not an experimental aircraft, but the first production aircraft assembled at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant. The MC-21-310 is equipped with Russian PD-14 engines, and the import substitution program provides for the use of domestic systems and components.
