The company "Sistemy Mekhanicheskoy Zashchity" has developed a new anti-drone net "Darwin-D", which can be deployed over roads with a width of 12 m or more. The fabric is 38 m wide, and the transport kit contains 6000 m² of net.
At the same time, one square meter weighs only 83 g. Thanks to this, the structure can be installed on lightweight rapidly erected supports and gradually form a protective perimeter over extended sections of the road.
It's not enough to just take an existing anti-drone net and stretch it for several kilometers. Here, the economics and operation are completely different.
The net is made of polyamide and does not act as a rigid barrier. Upon collision with a drone, the fabric stretches, absorbs its kinetic energy, detains the device, or knocks it off its trajectory. This should reduce the likelihood of warhead detonation upon impact with an obstacle.
If damaged, there is no need to replace the entire section — the damaged part can be cut out and covered with a spare fragment. This approach allows for local restoration of protection and avoids prolonged road closures.
Earlier, "Sistemy Mekhanicheskoy Zashchity" also presented the combined anti-drone net "Darwin-ZM". It works on the principle of a trap and is placed at a distance of at least two meters from the protected object with medium tension.
