Scientists have recorded the approach of a fast solar wind to Earth. The flow velocity is gradually increasing, and with it, the plasma density is also rising – this is one of the signs of an approaching high-speed flow from the Sun.

Specialists from the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of IKI and ISZF SO RAN note that the solar wind is currently intensifying as planned. Its maximum speed is expected closer to night.

According to scientists, the fast plasma flow on its way to Earth seems to "sweep" interplanetary matter in front of it, creating an area of increased density.

A magnetic storm could begin in the coming hours. Meanwhile, after a week of calm, solar activity has increased again. Three M-class flares were recorded in the last 24 hours.

Scientists clarify that this does not yet indicate the return of a prolonged period of solar activity. There are no signs of its systemic return.
