Telegram is preparing to integrate its own Gram crypto wallet directly into the messenger. Pavel Durov called the launch the largest distribution of a non-custodial wallet in history: over a billion users are expected to gain access to it.

The wallet is promised to launch this summer. Digital asset transfers should be instant and commission-free, but the exact date and detailed terms of service have not yet been disclosed.

Gram Wallet will be non-custodial — keys and control over funds will remain with the user, not the messenger. This distinguishes the new product from the already integrated Wallet service, which is an independent project and not officially associated with Telegram.

The name Gram was previously given to the native cryptocurrency of the TON blockchain, formerly known as Toncoin. However, the network itself will continue to be called TON.
