At the KAMAZ Engine Plant, a new automatic press for shaft straightening has been put into operation, capable of processing more than 400 parts per shift. The equipment was installed as part of the "Axle Production" project – it replaced three manually operated presses at once and increased the level of production automation.
The new complex operates in the plant's thermogalvanic production and is designed to eliminate shaft deformations that appear after the hardening process due to thermal effects during cooling.
The press is designed to process 16 different types of shafts. All necessary operating modes are pre-programmed into the equipment's software, so the operator only needs to select the desired program, install the part, and start the processing cycle.
Previously, this operation was performed manually. Specialists had to manually install the shaft on supports, rotate the part, find the bending section, and perform straightening. Separate presses with customized tooling were used for different types of shafts.
