The engineering and production association "Ovod", which created the eponymous drones, has identified the key problem of modern UAVs. According to the developers, communication remains the most vulnerable point of drones.

Terrestrial radio channels are easily suppressed by EW systems, depend on terrain, weather, and operator skills. Satellite communication provides greater range and stability, but in a full-scale conflict, space infrastructure becomes one of the primary targets: it will be suppressed, blinded, hacked, and attacked through ground stations.

By 2026, drones have become the main high-precision weapon. Various classes of aircraft are actively used in the combat zone — from reconnaissance copters to long-range strike UAVs. Radio-controlled drones are gradually giving way to fiber-optic aircraft: they are resistant to EW but are limited by cable length. In the future, an automated circuit using artificial intelligence will be developed, according to "Ovod": the system will independently detect and classify targets, and the operator will only need to confirm destruction. However, full-fledged autonomous swarms capable of exchanging data and reassigning tasks after losses are still a long way off, the association's engineers emphasize.
